Pacific Railroad Act of 1862 : ウィキペディア英語版 | Pacific Railroad Act of 1862
The Pacific Railroad Act of 1862 is an American piece of legislature which helped spur the construction of the first transcontinental railroad. It was the first of several Railroad Acts. ==History== In the 1850s, the United States was seeking to expand its borders westward. In order to do so it had to establish a federally funded transportation, in the form of a railroad system. In the 1850s several topographical and geographical surveys were conducted in order to find a possible route, but the planning was halted due to a lack of investment capital and the secession of the South in 1860.〔http://www.ourdocuments.gov/doc.php?flash=true&doc=32 〕 However, because of the war, the plans were to build a railroad in the North, and the Pacific Railroad Act of 1862 was quickly passed.
